Pictures of current green monster

Below are some quick snap shots I have taken of the early stages of a puppet I have had designed. He is quite a small puppet in size which is what I like, once on the hand I find smaller puppets to be easier to operate. above is a photo of his foam skull, the two templates in the same picture are for his mouthplate which will be cut from timber in the next few days.

Above are a few pattern pieces for the puppet, once deciding the length and width of the puppets arms and legs I make rough cardboard patterns like these.

Above is the arms and legs cut and pinned ready to be sewn, I usually machine sew the arms and legs.

Above are the arms and legs turned right side out after being sewn together.

Above is the body which has a foam body inside.

I will try and update as much as possible, this puppet is more of a spare time puppet to make inbetween real jobs so it may take some time to complete. have a great day all

August Update

Hi everyone, sorry for the looong delay since the last post. I have been flat out with custom orders one after the other and havent had time for much blogging ( well no time actually) . I have just finished a project where I have constructed three oversized clown heads for a roving act company which have turned out great - they have oversized heads but normal bodies ( almost look like bobble heads) . My next project is an order of seven puppets to look like band members for a music video clip which will probably take me a few months to complete. Then I am off to the USA for some relaxing . Also I didnt have a laptop for a while but its all now reformatted so its all go from here. I will try and add some more puppet blogs soon - just thought I would give you all an update as to where i'm at. Have a good one!

FEB09 UPDATE

Hi everyone, Sorry for not updating lately - I've had a big house move going on for the past month with my studio moving etc. I haven't really been doing much in the way of puppets which is the reason why I havent been blogging - I don't really want to start blogging just for the sake of it, I am now starting to get back into it so hopefully my blogs will become regular once again. I am still working on reviewing a www.projectpuppet.com pattern - I have received the pattern so hopefully soon I will be able to review it. Also I hope to start back up the project I have started with an amazing artist in California.... more on that soon also. Have a great day everyone.

2008 puppets

One of my favorite custom builds this year was a shaggy cat puppet, he was a blast to design and build and the client was just as great - which helps ALOT! Bunny Video of ear Mech and "cookie monster" style eyes

Here is a short video of Bunny in action, he has "googley" eyes like cookie monster, he also has an ear mech which allows him to lower his ears - very cute..... Enjoy

New Puppet

Here is one of my latest puppets, for some reason little children love this guy, must be his excited face. I will try and get some better photos of him as this is him just sitting on my puppet rack. He is still nameless - I find naming puppets harder these days, I'm sure it will come to me soon. Have a great day

NEW PROJECT

Sorry it has been a few weeks since my last blog - busy over Christmas and New Years, I decided to take some time off for a well earned break.
